Is corporate blogging boring? What do you think?

Should executives be blogging at all?
What message are they trying to get across? Is it all about making their company seem hip and trendy and with-the-net, or it is an essential tool demonstrating that a boss knows how to engage in transparent communication with readers and staff alike? 
And what about bosses that use a ghost-writer? Can that capture their personal emotion and attitude in a way that is expected of a blogger?

I’ve got my own opinions, which I’ll post here tomorrow, but I’m interested in gauging views from the online community first. Do you read blogs by managers? Are they interesting? What makes a good corporate blog good?
