Nutricia, maker of Cow & Gate baby food, has installed Cognos’s PowerPlay and Report Net products to provide data integration and business intelligence across the company.
The project, carried out with business software specialist Inca, has included construction of a datawarehouse and a major upgrade of the firm’s enterprise resource planning systems.
Nutricia, which is divided into infant nutrition and clinical products divisions, made the move after struggling to extract useful business information for its two very different businesses from an ageing ERP system.
The new system allows managers to perform their own ad hoc reporting and “what-if analysis” for the first time and provides access to third party and industry information sources.
The software overhaul was also aimed at giving the Nutricia sales team mobile access to better sales reporting and to support the different reporting needs of the company’s sites in Wiltshire, Liverpool and Dublin.
Nutricia’s head of business systems, Janet Clayton, said, “Our investment in business intelligence through a datawarehouse not only gives our range of business users more flexibility, speed and consistency in their reporting and analysis but also access to more market and industry information than ever before.”
