PC refresh cycles given the axe. Literally

IT managers need to watch out for axes, hammers and disgruntled employees.

A survey of 3,000 employees by Vanson Bourne (commissioned by online backup service firm, Mozy), shows 25% deliberately break work laptops and mobile phones to get an equipment upgrade.

Those who reported their work computer was older than their home computer were twice as likely to resort to brute force to fast-track refresh cycles.

Downtime is intrigued to know the most popular method of device destruction. Over-zealous testing of ‘rugged’ features? Accidently dropped out of the seventh floor office window? Flushed down the toilet?
