SSA and IBM launch ERP package for small businesses

SSA Global and IBM have launched a bundled enterprise resource planning package aimed at manufacturing industry SMEs.

The bundled software and hardware package features SSA’s ERP(LN) pre-loaded and integrated on an IBM BladeCentre Linux platform, based on AMD Opteron processors.

It is designed to offer smaller businesses the benefits of a proven ERP solution deployed on service-oriented architecture. It is also aimed at meeting the longer-term needs of SMEs by providing an SOA foundation that can be easily scaled up when business and IT needs change.

The package also includes SSA Integration for connectivity to SSA ERP(LN), IBM WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus, IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM DB2 and the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from Novell.

The Novell SUSE Linux platform and Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors with Direct Connect Architecture deliver 64-bit performance-per-watt and native dual-core processing to support larger workloads.

The package is currently available in North America, and is expected to become available in other regions.
