Jump in sales and profits for Indian outsourcer

Indian outsourcer Infosys Technologies has announced impressive sales and profits growth for the third quarter.

For the three months ending 31 December, Infosys said sales hit £329m – over 32% higher than the same quarter the previous year.

The company also said that net profits rose almost 28% to £84m. In addition, the outsourcer said its headcount had grown by 3,226 employees during the quarter.

As of 31 December, Infosys had 49,422 staff, and intends increasing this number much further to handle new contracts.

The company, which is the number two Indian outsourcer behind Tata Consultancy Services, now has 454 clients in offshoring and business process outsourcing.

Infosys said it expected full-year sales, ending 31 March, to be up by 35% to £1.25bn.
