Star offers £45 Microsoft unified comms, e-mail and telephony

Star, a provider of computing and communication services to UK businesses, has launched a managed communications service.

The service, called WorkLife Productivity Suite, is a unified communications platform which provides Microsoft e-mail, instant messaging, presence, collaboration, conferencing and telephony charged at a fixed, per user, per month price. The modules are offered either individually, or as a package, for £45 per user, per month and require no installation of extra hardware or software, Star said.

According to Star, the WorkLife Productivity Suite can help organisations reduce the cost of communications, remote working and travel, improve customer communication and interactions and speed up decision making and customer response.

The suite supports collaboration and conferencing, allowing employees to communicate from any location by making a call, sending a message or initiating a conference on the fly, via the desktop.

Hugo Harber, director of convergence and network strategy at Star, said, "Many companies have little clarity of their true communications costs, as new converged services, home working and departmental deployments have muddied the water and made them difficult to measure. This service is so easy to budget for because it has a single and predictable monthly cost, and this makes it affordable for most SMEs."

The suite provides a subscription service to Microsoft Exchange Server, Sharepoint Server, Office Communications Server and telephony from Broadsoft.
