Touch-screen kiosks take off at Airbus

Touch-screen kiosk terminals have been installed in the production halls for the new Airbus A380 aircraft.

More than 200 terminals, developed by 3M Touch Systems, will be used by Airbus engineers in Germany to access construction plans, technical data and employee information.

The terminals have reduced the need for staff to carry laptops to access technical information, which Airbus said improves security in a field where there is a constant threat of industrial espionage or data transfer.
