The Ministry of Defence has awarded EDS a contract to roll out an improved supply chain system as part of its Management of Material in Transit (MMiT) project.

The project aims to provide the MOD with more accurate information on the delivery of supplies, speed up their delivery, and reduce costs through less duplication.

The system is also expected to increase the confidence of frontline commanders, in reassuring them that they will get the kit they need.

EDS will deliver the supply chain management system using Supply Chain Consulting's Viewlocity Control Tower Platform (CTP).

This will be used together with a performance analysis and reporting system built around SAS Enterprise Intelligence Platform.

MMiT is expected to be used in the field by the middle of 2009.
