Astaro has launched abeta programme for
its new unified security applianceand is
tempting testers with freeWii gaming consoles.
Astaro has launched the beta of its Security Gateway V7.1
unified threat management (UTM) security appliance.
The latest release offers advanced web filtering based on a new
HTTP proxy, which allows for extended functionality and significant
performance improvements, said Astaro.
In previous releases, Astaro has used Squid as an HTTP proxy, a
system based on open source technology, but the company will now
integrate a proprietary system to "increase efficiency", it
said.
Replacing the old engine, the new proxy supports features like
Directory Single-Sign-On via NTLMv2 and
Kerberos
authentication.
Other enhancements include a flexible combination of black and
white list technologies, as well as streaming media capability to
play audio and video data without interferences.
Using intelligent caching functionality, the new proxy's I/O
model achieves performance improvements of up to 80%, said
Astaro.
Beta participants providing information about their user
experience have the chance of winning one of seven Nintendo Wii
consoles.
