Construction Opportunities for Mobile IT

Computer Weekly’s Warwick Ashford speaks to Comit’s strategic alliance manager and former chairman, Neill Pawsey, about the organisation’s history, role and projects past, present and future.

The construction industry has not been as progressive as other sectors in its use of information technology.

Several organisations aimed at promoting the use of IT were formed in response to a 1998 government report highlighting that the industry was lagging behind.

One such organisation is Construction Opportunities for Mobile IT (Comit), which has grown into a fully independent industry organisation in the past five years to promote the use of mobile IT in construction.

Comit was at this year’s Construction Computing event at London’s Emirates Stadium to help make sense of the wide range of mobile IT products and services on offer.

Computer Weekly’s Warwick Ashford spoke to Comit’s strategic alliance manager and former chairman, Neill Pawsey, about the organisation’s history, role and projects past, present and future.
