myKP has launched free Wi-Fi coverage in the Sydney CBD as part of its myKPcommunity project. Galeries Victoria, Broadway Shopping Centre and Greenwood Plaza are currently covered by the project, with another 30 central business areas slated to follow.
"Users can take advantage of our free Wi-Fi now, including commuters at the Galeries Victoria end of Town Hall train station," said myKP CEO Grahame Miles.
The system is supported through advertising, but Miles was quick to defend it. "We are not spammers; we don't sell our databases and there isn't a maze of advertising to cipher through," he said.
Miles also stressed that free Wi-Fi was only the beginning. "We are turning our hotspots into portals. Users will soon have access to mobile VoIP and instant messaging applications and video streaming."
