Equipment hire company Vp Group has achieved instant proof-of-delivery enquiries by implementing a mobile management system for its Groundforce division.
The company said the PDA-based system has reduced administration costs, eliminated paper documents, and improved resolution of delivery queries by capturing and transmitting customer signatures to the back-office systems in real-time.
Groundforce is using a combination of X Service and X Hire fromThree X to manage the hire and service of surveying and piling equipment to civil engineering and construction companies.
Tony Bastin, IT development manager, said proof-of-delivery queries had taken an average of 11 days to resolve in the past because of the time taken to locate and distribute the necessary paperwork. "Now we can resolve these queries immediately," he said.
Bastin said the system also made light work of allocating jobs to field staff. Delivery, collection and servicing jobs are sent directly to the PDAs with full instructions.
"Jobs can be transmitted immediately to appropriate staff as soon as a contract is entered on to the system," he said.
