Microsoft has made a pre-Release Candidate 1 (RC1) of Windows Vista available to the public.
The actual Release Candidate 1 of the software may be available later this month, but Microsoft wanted to increase the number of testers of the software before it distributed it.
The pre-release version was made available to a small group of users last week, but the company now wants to sign up around 100,000 users to test the 3.2GB program.
Once this number has been reached Microsoft will end the available download. The large file is an .iso file. To install it, users must burn the file onto a DVD.
The full version of Windows Vista is expected to be available to large companies this November, and commercially available to all users by early 2007, according to Microsoft.
