Citrix Systems has launched an SME version of its thin client application management system.
Citrix Access Essentials is designed to deliver secure and instant access to applications to organisations employing up to 75 users with Microsoft Windows-based desktops, laptops or mobile devices.
The cost of giving these users office and remote access to essential applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail clients, is £135 per year per employee.
With thin client technology, the applications reside on a server to be distributed over any location, rather than being permanently stored on employees PCs or other devices.
As well as aiding access to corporate information on any device in any location, this way of working makes sure updates to the software can be immediately distributed.
Mika Yamamoto Krammer, an analyst at Gartner, said, “SMEs are facing increasing customer demands for timely and accurate access to information, continual pressures to do more with less means SMEs must take advantage of proven technology to make their operations more efficient.”
