An updated version of the SFIAplus IT skills, training and development standard will be launched by the BCS at an event at the Institute of Directors in London on 26 April.

SFIAplus version 3 defines skills for the IT professional and the training and development required to maintain them. The new version contains 17 new and updated skills, with greater emphasis on business change, wireless and web technology, service management, security and IT governance and compliance.

Also being launched on 26 April, BCS IT Job Describer is a tool to help employers produce detailed and customised IT job descriptions using SFIAplus. It is easily deployed via a browser-based hosted system and can help companies establish training requirements as well as identify career paths and skills shortages, said the BCS.
