Analytics Server is designed to track traffic, response times and usage behaviour and help prioritise administrative resources.
Plumtree said users can improve portals' return on investment, reduce infrastructure costs and improve user satisfaction.
Traditional web analytics software aggregates information about application server behaviour from batched, historical log files.
Plumtree Analytics Server uses plug-in filters at multiple tiers of the portal architecture to report information to the Analytics Server database in real time to deliver more accurate and instant system activity information.
"An analytics tool for monitoring portal activity can help organisations maximise the return on investment in their portal," said Ray Valdes, research director at analyst firm Gartner.
"Successful portal deployments have as much to do with human behaviour and business processes as with technology. In the past, managers of the enterprise portal have lacked industrial-strength tools to help them determine what is preventing people from using portal applications effectively."
