High-end security appliance supplier IronPort Systems will now bundle Symantec’s anti-virus software instead of anti-virus software from Sophos.
The new four year agreement between the two sees Symantec build on a relationship which already saw it supply IronPort with anti-spam software for its appliances.
The cementing of the relationship between the two comes after speculation that Symantec is about to enter the security appliance market itself, with an entry-level appliance running Symantec anti-spam and anti-virus software.
IronPort mainly targets the high-end security appliance market, and says six of the world’s largest 10 ISPs use its solutions, as well as some of the world’s largest companies.
