Google has named its first vice-president outside the US, appointing a former mobile telecoms company executive as its new head of European operations.
Nikesh Arora, former chief marketing officer at T-Mobile, will move to Google in early December. Based in London, he will manage and develop Google's European business.
At T-Mobile, Arora managed product development and brand and marketing activities in Europe. He had previous held management positions at Putnam Investments and Fidelity Investments.
Arora's appointment comes a few months after Google became a public company, and signalled its intention to expand its international presence.
