BEA's WebLogic Server 7.0 Advantage Edition will be included with every HP-UX 11i system beginning later this month. Existing HP-UX 11i and 11.0 systems support contract customers will be able to access a free, six-month trial version of the J2EE Web application server.
The offering will assist customers seeking to develop and manage their businesses in real time.
"The bundling initiative is just the beginning of a strategic effort to combine application development and hardware optimisation efforts to offer enterprise customers exceptional solutions," said BEA Systems chief marketing officer Tod Nielsen.
HP has set up services and consulting resources for the deployment of the Web server application on its operating system at solution centres around the world. Support for the Web application server will also be available through the BEA Web site.
HP also announced the release of its OpenView Transaction Analyzer that will simplify management of real-time transactions. The solution uses transaction management application program interfaces, co-developed with BEA, to monitor the WebLogic Server 6.X and 7.0.
The solution has tag-and-trace capability that monitors performance in both J2EE and Microsoft DNA application infrastructures by analysing the path of all transactions and locating network or application problems.
Earlier this year, BEA announced plans to provide support for its product on all HP platforms, including NonStop Kernel, OpenVMS and Tru64 Unix, as well as Windows 2000 and Linux.
