Nokia to buy 10% of Redback Networks

Nokia Networks, the infrastructure division of Nokia, has agreed to buy 10% of Redback Networks for $36m.

Nokia Networks, the infrastructure division of Nokia, has agreed to buy 10% of Redback Networks for $36m.

Nokia has had a relationship with Redback Networks - which sells network provisioning and management software, subscriber management and optical platforms - for some years.

The deal strengthens Redback Neworks' financial position and enables Nokia to broaden its intelligent-edge portfolio.

Intelligent-edge products allow providers to manage subscriber access, throughout the authentication, authorisation and connection processes.

The companies will work together to boost sales of broadband solutions to strategic customers and co-operate on product and technology development.
