Novell has unveiled two products targeted at organisations with a mixture of servers which support thin clients and workstations running Microsoft Windows.

The first offering is a software bundle designed to streamline the administration of enterprise applications. A service and software package for managing employee identity and data-access profiles is also available.

The software bundle combines Novell's Zenworks for Desktops management tool with the company's OnDemand Services Web-based provisioning software for content and applications delivery. The package features no new integration between these two existing products, but clients are now able to purchase the products together.

The new bundle works in conjunction with client machine networks running Windows NT or 2000, Novell NetWare, Unix or Linux. The software combination offers a consistent interface for the administration of desktops, laptops and thin-client servers.

Novell's new employee provisioning software and services package, aimed at large enterprises, combines Novell's software and consulting services.

The system is intended to automate the process of creating, deleting and maintaining employee identity and access privilege profiles by linking an organisation's PeopleSoft human resources software with applications from other vendors, including SAP AG, Microsoft, Lotus and Siebel.

Novell claims that the increased applications integration can help companies to reduce their administrative overheads, increase network security, and lower help desk call volume.
