Metaframe XP for Windows is designed to support as many as 100,000 users on 1,000 or more servers and will provide secure access to Windows applications from various devices over wired, wireless or Web connections.
The software connects client computers with central servers which, according to Citrix, will enable companies to save on software licensing costs, as they can keep the most expensive applications on the server for access when needed.
"Metaframe XP contains a new platform design, integrated platform management and family packaging that allows customers to effectively grow their application serving platform to fit their specific needs," said David Weiss, vice-president of marketing at Citrix.
The suite features the Java-based Citrix Management Console (CMC), which provides customers with a graphical method for managing all system resources from a single point. Businesses can use the Citrix NFuse application portal to personalise applications and content, and publish them in a single portal view with no application rewrites.
