City University London has been getting lots of enquiries about the Computer Weekly scholarship for a fully-funded place on City’s Master of Information Leadership (MIL) course.
The MIL is designed to support career progression from a mid-career information professional to a leadership role. Do you have the experience level needed to win the scholarship?
What do you need?
An upper second UK honours degree or equivalent.
Three years’ experience in business-facing information role (equivalent to SFIA 5/CITP), such as a senior information manager or senior IT consultant
If English isn’t your first language, you’ll need IELTS 7.0 or equivalent.
What type of experience will be considered?
Course director, Andrew Tuson, breaks it down as follows:
1. IT directors/CIOs/CTOs (SFIA 7/FBCS) that wish to develop their skills and/or move to a board level role (or in consultant terms, senior partners)
2. IT directors’ direct reports (SFIA 6), including enterprise architects, programme managers, heads of IT services, etc. (and equivalent interims and experienced senior consultants)
3. Talented professionals at the level below (usually SFIA 5-6/CITP), such as project managers, service managers, senior consultants in larger organisations, for example, banks, supermarket chains or major consultancies
What is the Master of Information Leadership (MIL) course?
City University London’s Master of Information Leadership (MIL) is a post-experience executive interdisciplinary masters course, aimed at developing future information leaders.
The MIL course equips mid-career information professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to move into leadership roles, such as CIO, CTO, business change director, and knowledge director.
The programme is part-time, taking place in central London over 10 weekends. It is taught by academic and industry practitioners and also provides access to a network of experts, CIOs, CTOs and related professionals who contribute to the course.
