Argos has opened a ‘digital hub’ in London that will focus on creating more agile and flexible ways of working.

The new office will be situated above the Argos store in London Victoria and will be used as a satellite for teams working on major infrastructure projects.

Its location is also convenient for key partners and startup communities that may wish to work with Argos the future.

The retailer is recruiting for several roles to fill the new office, including product managers, development managers, digital designers and testers. Developers are also being recruited and further roles will be recruited over the coming months.

Argos digital director, Bertrand Bodson, said: “For us, this is about creating a space for collaboration and innovation. We want to unleash the entrepreneurial spirit I know to be at the heart of our business and which has meant that nearly 50% of our business now originates in a digital channel.

“Building our agile capability is a strong boost to Argos’s transformation plans, allowing us to bring digital solutions to the market faster and in a more timely and relevant way.

At the end of last year, Argos opened its first digital concept store as part of the retailer’s aim to become a digital retailer over the next four and half years.

The Old Street store in London is the first of six digital concept stores, which aims to seamlessly tie together Argos’s online, mobile and in-store shopping channels.

Argos believes its store is still incremental to its business, with 50% of customers starting their journey in an Argos store, so it is trialing digital stores to engage its customers with technology.

Anyone interested in finding out more about recruitment for these roles should send their CV to resourcing@homeretailgroup.com quoting “Digital Careers” in the subject line.
