City University London launches startup incubator

City University London has opened The Hangout – an incubation space for technology startups.

Located at the accelerator The Bakery’s headquarters, the incubator will offer entrepreneurs office space in the heart of London’s Tech City.

The Hangout – which has been running in pilot since June – intends to bring together technology startups with City University students.

Using its motto Where Talent Meets Tech, The Hangout will allow startups to discover employable talent that will help the companies grow. It will also provide the students with entrepreneurial experience.

“Launching The Hangout is a further expansion of City’s collaboration with Tech City. Our students and graduates are highly employable. They excel in sectors such as informatics and business - sectors vital to the growth and sustainability of Tech City,” said Professor Paul Curran, City University London’s vice-chancellor.
