Gordon Frazer leaves Microsoft UK for China

Microsoft UK managing director Gordon Frazer is moving to China as the new chief operating officer (COO) for Microsoft GCR.

Frazer has been the UK head of Microsoft for six years, before which he served as the general manager for Microsoft South Africa.

Microsoft GCR comprises the firm's businesses in the People's Republic of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

As reported in Computer Weekly’s sister title, Microscope, Frazer also sits on the UK e-Skills Industry Board and the CBI Higher Education Task Force, where he has been an influential voice in calling for greater co-operation and integration between businesses and the world of higher education.

In March Frazer hosted the Startup Britain event at Microsoft’s London office in Victoria, which was attended by prime ministe, David Cameron, chancellor of the exchequer George Osborne and secretary of state for business Vince Cable.

Michel van der Bel, has been named the new UK managing director. He was previously COO of the China division.
