Hotel group Guoman and Thistle has renewed and upgraded a contract to transform its IT in time for the London 2012 Olympics this summer.

Guoman and Thistle has 37 hotels in the UK and has extended its IT services deal with Orange Business Services. Orange will upgrade hardware and software, and host and manage applications.

Guoman and Thistle already outsources its datacentre, IT and critical applications to Orange Business Services.

Orange has simplified its billing and will create and manage a disaster recovery implementation in time for the London 2012 Olympics. Orange will also provide Guoman and Thistle with exchange services, firewalls, virtualisation, VPN access, internet access and BlackBerry Exchange.

Guoman and Thistle expects to reduce its total cost of IT ownership by 20%.

Dipesh Joshi, IT director at the hotel chain, said the new contract is important to support the hotel during the London 2012 Olympics: “Being one of London’s biggest hoteliers, this underpins our success this summer.”
