The European Parliament has signed a managed application development, maintenance and support deal worth about £10.5m with Accenture.
The applications in the deal include human resources, finance, logistics and administrative management software. Accenture will analyse, design, build, test and implement functions and applications as part of a managed service for four years.
Accenture is one of Europe's biggest IT service providers and it has a big footprint in the UK central government. It is also currently building its business in local government. It recently won its first major UK local government contract with the City of London Corporation where it is aiming to cut procurement costs by £30m over five years through a procurement shared service for multiple departments.
