Facebook is expanding its UK operations by moving into a larger office in London and recruiting new staff.
Facebook currently has offices in Carnaby Street in London. According to reports, the social networking firm will move to a new 36,000sq ft office in Covent Garden by early next year.
Joanna Shields, Facebook's vice president and European managing director, told the Daily Telegraph the company plans to recruit new staff as part of the expansion.
"As Facebook's growth continues, we are delighted to be expanding our operations in the UK with a move to a larger office in central London next year" she said.
"With over 30 million people using Facebook every month in the UK, and over 750 million globally, we're excited about the next phase in our development."
Google, which is located near London's Victoria train station, is rumoured to be looking for new office space in the King's Cross area of London.
Microblogging site Twitter is also preparing to open an office in London amid debate that it might find itself more tightly bound by Britain's strict libel laws following high-profile legal sanctions.
Neither Facebook, Google or Twitter have announced plans to set up UK headquarters in the government-backed London "Tech City".
