Airport operator BAA has appointed Simon Fell as its new chief technology officer. Fell previously worked as technical consultant at Freeview and before that director of Future Technologies at ITV. He will report to CIO Philip Langsdale.

Under his new role starting in August, Fell will be responsible for strategy, technical innovation, programme development and technical standards.

BAA CIO Philip Langsdale said: "I am delighted that Simon is joining BAA. He will be a valuable addition to the executive team in this new role, designed to strengthen and develop the technologies that we offer to our airports."

Fell said: "This is an exciting opportunity to help to develop and bring innovation to the dynamic technology area that is the airports business."
