NHS Trust uses biometric hand readers to monitor staff presence

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust has implemented an electronic rostering system, and is using biometric hand readers to record staff presence.

The trust, which has 3,500 employees, is the first NHS trust to implement the system, which will automate timesheets, improve payroll accuracy and rostering.

The software enables trusts to improve their staff productivity and efficiency with reductions in bank, agency, administration, absence and overtime costs.

The trust has used SMART'S eHL workforce management system.
