Biscuit firm offshores IT to Tata for five years

Snacks manufacturer United Biscuits has outsourced its IT to Indian firm Tata Consultancy Services under a five-year offshore support contract. Application support, projects, business analysis services and strategic IT programmes are all part of the service that Tata has promised United Biscuits as part of the end-to-end IT support contract.

United Biscuits said Tata would improve service levels and cut costs by offshoring as part of a more strategic approach for supporting and enhancing its information systems.

“I am confident that TCS will provide United Biscuits with the best possible solutions, helping us to grow our business and operate more effectively and efficiently,” said Steve Airton, UK IS controller at United Biscuits. “We needed a provider that would be able to work strategically with us to help us achieve our business goals, and implement long-term IT programmes.”

Neither company would disclose the value of the contract.
