Siemens launches centralised wireless Lan console

Tash Shifrin

Siemens Communications has announced a new centralised wireless Lan management platform.

The HiPath Wireless Manager is designed to enable enterprise-wide management of thousands of wireless access points and tens of thousands of users from a single console.

It allows IT managers to monitor and optimise wireless network performance, providing “heat maps”, statistics, alerts and reports. The software incorporates an open services framework to support third party development of integrated voice, data and video applications aimed at more productive mobile working.

Siemens has also launched a HiPath Ready Partner Programme for Open Mobility Solutions – an extension of its HiPath Ready Certification Programme, aimed at helping third party vendors develop customised extensions to the HiPath Wireless Manager framework.

The company also announced the launch of the latest version of its HiPath Wireless Convergence Software for WLan Controllers and Access Points. The new release offers enhanced voice quality capabilities, improved power management and longer battery life for wireless devices, intelligent roaming and better prioritisation for future applications.
