BizTalk Server 2006 supports SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005 and Virtual Server 2005, and will be available in a 64-bit version.
Microsoft announced the launch of BizTalk Server 2006 in November 2005 when it announced the availability of Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005, but at the time would only say that it would ship in the first half of this year.
BizTalk 2006 includes a new unified management console designed to provide a view of a business process in a single window, instead of having to rely on multiple document queues. This enhancement will ease administration.
For developers, the platform includes a tool that allows them to aggregate pieces of a business process so it can be put into production as a single application.
Microsoft has also added an out-of-the-box business activity monitoring platform, to allow companies to quickly build a portal to monitor and measure the performance of business processes against pre-defined performance indicators.
