Silver Peak expands datacentre disaster recovery

Silver Peak Systems, a provider of network acceleration solutions, has unveiled its NX-5500 network acceleration appliance.

The device supports 50Mbps of Wan capacity with 2Tbytes of locally encrypted network memory and is designed to deliver the company’s full suite of acceleration features in a platform tailored to meet the scalability requirements of mid-sized datacentres.

The NX Series, says Silver Peak , also overcomes the flow limitations that often occur when a large number of regional or branch offices are aggregated into a datacentre. Silver Peak believes that more than 30% of enterprise have facilities with DS3 (45Mbps) or greater Wan connection, including mid-sized datacentres and regional hubs, and that the NX-5500 will be ideal for these environments.
