Government IT heads join CIO Connect

Antony Savvas
Thirty members of the government's CIO Council have joined IT directors group CIO Connect to share IT strategies with the private sector.

The CIO Council is chaired by government CIO Ian Watmore and comprises senior IT managers from across Whitehall and the wider public sector.

Watmore said, "Being able to plug into CIO Connect's network of senior IT professionals offers significant benefit to the CIO Council. There is great value in sharing knowledge and experiences with peers to help spread best practice and professionalism throughout public-sector IT."

Des Lee, a founding director of CIO Connect, said bringing members of the CIO Council together with private sector IT leaders would benefit both groups.

"When you look at the commercial world of the CIO and that of government officials, the problems are really the same. CIOs in government are not slaves to profit but they are slaves to service and value for money," he said.
