Mendocino to integrate SAP with MS Office

Antony Savvas

SAP and Microsoft have joined forces to develop a solution that closely integrates Microsoft’s Office applications with SAP’s business process software.

The new product, codenamed “Mendocino", will be designed to make it easier for users to access, analyse and use enterprise data to make better business decisions, according to the pair.

Mendocino will link SAP functionality directly to Microsoft Office applications, and allow users to use familiar Office interfaces to access business information held in SAP products.

As part of the expanded partnership, SAP will resell Microsoft Office and Microsoft will resell licences to SAP’s business process platform.

Generally available in 2006, the new product will be released to select customers in the fourth quarter of 2005.
