IBM and AT&T are to jointly offer a packaged team collaboration solution intended to make it easier for SMEs to buy and deploy collaboration software with integrated Internet access capabilities.

The new package, IBM Workplace Services Express with AT&T Managed Internet Service, will be based on IBM's Workplace Services Express, a collaboration solution with an integrated portal, and AT&T Managed Internet Service for secure, dedicated, high-speed internet access.

Workplace Services Express provides team rooms, instant messaging, document management and an integrated portal so that SMEs will be able to share, organise and integrate information with employees, contractors and partners. Bundling Workplace Services Express with AT&T Managed Internet Service, said the companies, provides SMEs with a simple and easy way to build a collaborative, internet-ready solution for their organisation without investing significant time or IT resources.

The bundle is currently in pilot stage and will ultimately be available through local IBM Business Partners and AT&T Authorised Agents.
