Opera updates Linux browser

Antony Savvas

Opera Software has released the next version of its Linux browser, which is equipped with a variety of new tools.

The so far unnamed version, includes Fit-to-Window-Width and Fit-to-Paper-Width tools, an improved start bar for easier access to main features, and an automatic update checker, which are all presented in a simplified user interface.

"We were preparing for the 7.60 release, but as work progressed and we kept adding improvements and functionality, it became evident that we now have a browser that warrants a major release," said Jon von Tetzchner, Opera chief executive.

Users who have licensed Opera 7 will receive free upgrades to the new version of the browser.
