OGC releases public sector contract terms

Tony Savvas
The government has published new standardised contract terms in an attempt to simplify the tendering process for IT suppliers.

The move will underpin ministers' desires to move away from using private finance initiative deals to fund IT projects.

The new terms, produced by the Office of Government Commerce, are in response to supplier requests to replace the myriad of public sector contract documents, with a choice of two, easy to handle "standard" contract forms.

The OGC said the new terms have been produced to make it easier for smaller suppliers to compete for government IT contracts.
