BEA offers free trial of WebLogic development tools

BEA Systems is offering free, one-year trial development licences to its WebLogic Enterprise Platform, a package that bundles a number of BEA's programming and integration tools.

The free trial offer, announced during BEA's annual user conference in Orlando, is part of a tiered pricing programme called BEA dev2dev Subscriptions.

Trial users are offered a 12-month software licence allowing five IP connections, for non-production use only.

BEA offers two higher subscription levels. The Platform Edition subscription, priced at $599 (£380) each, includes technical support, quarterly software updates shipped on CD, a one-year subscription to WebLogic Developer's Journal and trial software from BEA partners.

BEA's Tools Edition subscription, which costs $4,659 (£2,956), includes everything in the Platform edition plus a licence for Borland Software's JBuilder 8, WebLogic Edition Java applications development software.

Both the Platform and Tools Edition subscriptions do not expire.

Dev2dev subscriptions are available online at dev2dev.bea.com/.
