An Internet ordering system is helping finance director Lisa Manton at caf‚ chain Aroma take a break from back office tasks to spend more time interacting with staff and customers. Aroma is using Caterwide.com, a system that automatically generates a daily suggested order by checking past orders and stored Epos information. Staff log on to a Web site using any Web-enabled device. The site is hosted by Crown Management Systems, which also hosts Aroma's database using Microsoft's Site Server 3 Commerce Edition and SQL Server 7. It runs on Windows NT 4. Future facilities include delivery confirmation and consumption calculations.
