Walters at the double

International recruitment consultancy, Robert Walters is to double the size of its e-business and telecoms divisions within 12 months to meet increasing demand for skilled staff in both sectors.

According to Paul Wright, head of e-business at the agency, e-commerce is fast becoming a large part of the division's client business. "As part of our future strategy therefore, we plan to capitalise on identified opportunities in areas such as B2B exchanges, on-line banking, financial services, e-commerce companies and dotcoms, by expanding the team to service a growing list of major clients," he explains.

Candidates with good database skills and object-oriented programming languages such as Java, HTML, Javascript and Active X, have so far been sourced by the team for start-ups, incubator companies and e-consultancy firms, says the agency.

Its telecoms division, which reports "a surge of new entrants" to the market, recruits contractor and permanent staff for more "specialist" telecoms positions and traditional IT development and support roles.
