The company’s interest in Dell EqualLogic was sparked by a desire to move into virtualised hosting.
“Traditionally, hosting services provide a service of floor space and customers bring their own kit,” explains Tony Delaveris, business development manager at manageNET. “Now technology like virtualisation lets us re-engineer our offering,” with the company now providing its clients with infrastructure-for-hire on a flexible basis, thanks to virtualisation making it easier to create and re-arrange facilities as and when clients require them.
A SAN was an obvious part of such a solution, as it would be far more flexible than direct-attach storage.
manageNET therefore went shopping and settled on the Dell EqualLogic’s PS3900XV product.
“Our engineers selected Dell EqualLogic because they saw it as a great fit for what we are doing,” he says. “Integration with VWmare was key for us. We can continue to add disks and still see a pool of storage.”
Licensing was also an important factor.
“With EqualLogic all licensing costs were included in the up front cost, we had no problems,” Delaveris said.
