UK Grid invests £10 million in Manchester facility
Data centre provider UK Grid is investing £10 million in a new 27,000-square-foot site in Manchester. The investment will be spread over the next three years and will create 15 new jobs in the area. UK Grid also operates a data storage facility in London.

HP implements new rules for partners after $16.25 million fraud payout
HP has said it will be implementing still new rules and training to its partners bidding on E-Rate public contracts after the company recently had to pay out $16.25 million to settle a fraud charge case. Two Houston-based HP partners were found to be providing Houston- and Dallas-based schools with gifts in order to win contracts. According to an FCC statement, orders for contracts include some $17 million for HP equipment.
Facebook gets second data centre underway
Facebook is gearing up to build its second data centre, despite its first still being under construction. The social networking giant is building its second facility in North Carolina, which is expected to cost $450 million and will take 18 months to complete.
Henry Ford Health System upgrades data centre
Henry Ford Health System has announced plans for a $5-million expansion on its Rochester Hills data centre. The Detroit-based facility will create 20-30 new jobs in the area, adding to the 300 who work there now. Construction will begin in the spring, and projects will include upgrades to an electronic medical record system.
Emerson unveils Trellis platform
Emerson Network Power has revealed its Trellis Platform, which is an infrastructure management solution for data centres. The vendor said its platform is designed to make better use of capacity to delay the need for new data centres.
