Veeam offers Veeam Report Free Edition
Virtualisation management vendor Veeam has revealed a new version of its Veeam Reporter product, for free. The product, designed for VMware environments, enables administrators to utilise capacity planning, change management and enterprise reporting and charge back. Veeam Reporter Free Edition is certified by VMware as VMware-ready on vSphere 4 and VI3.

Intel set to acquire McAfee
Chip giant Intel announced recently that it will acquire security expert McAfee for approximately $7.68 billion. McAfee is set to operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary, which will report to Intel's software and service group.

HP to acquire Fortify
Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced that it will acquire Fortify Software, for an undisclosed sum. Fortify Software designs tools for developers so they can test software code for security vulnerabilities. The acquisition is expected to strengthen HP's application security tool portfolio.

Symantec releases ApplicationHA and VirtualStore
Security vendor Symantec has released Symantec ApplicationHA and Symantec VirtualStore. The two solutions will enable customers to virtualise business applications on the VMware platform. Both products are integrated with VMware management tools such as VMware vCenter Server.

CA Technologies unveils latest Client Manager
CA technologies has released the latest version of its CA IT Client Manager (ITCM), which is designed to improve visibility of enterprise inventory. The new CA ITCM r12.5 provides virtualisation support, including registering, deploying, detecting, reporting on and updating Microsoft App-V and VMware ThinApp technologies.
