VMware launches collaboration appliance
VMware has launched an email and collaboration virtual appliance, the Zimbra Collaboration Suite Appliance. Designed to run on VMware vSphere, the appliance aims to reduce the complexity of a virtual environment. VMware acquired Zimbra in February and has now revealed that Zimbra customers are now supported by VMware Global Support Services.

Citrix NetScaler MPX receives FIPS 140-2 security accreditation
Citrix has announced that its NetScaler MPX product has achieved Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2, Level 2 compliance. The standard is a security accreditation given to IT products cryptographic modules produced by private vendors for use in government departments. It also covers any other regulated industry that has the need to store, transfer or share sensitive but unclassified data.

IT spending to surpass $2.4 trillion in 2010, Gartner says
Worldwide enterprise IT spending is set to surpass $2.4 trillion in 2010, a growth of 2.9% when compared to the $2.9 trillion spent in 2009. The analyst said that industries are gradually returning to growth after a challenging year in 2009, which saw a 5.9% decline from 2008.

EqualLogic co-founder joins Virtensys
I/O virtualisation vendor Virtensys has announced that Peter Hayden, co-founder and first CEO of EqualLogic, has joined its board of directors. Hayden was with EqualLogic until its acquisition by Dell in 2008. Previously, he was with Adaptec in addition to having held engineering and management roles at Bell Labs and Digital Equipment Corporation.

Dell storage solutions marketing manager joins SNIA board of directors
Dell's Manager of Storage Solutions Marketing for EMEA has joined SNIA's Europe board of directors. Ann Karolin Thueland has joined with the aim of strengthening the marketing profile of the association's European board. With more than a decade of IT industry experience, Thueland has held various managing and marketing positions at companies such as Compaq, HP and Fujitsu.
