Dutch police arrest 16-year-old over pro-Wikileaks hacktivism

A 16-year-old Dutch boy has been arrested in connection with the revenge attacks against Visa, MasterCard and PayPal.

The sites were targeted by hackers following the firms' refusal to process Wikileaks payments.

The boy confessed to participating in attacks on the US-based payments processing firms by cutting off the ability to donate to the group using their cards, according to a press release from the Netherlands' Public Prosecution Service

He was arrested in the Hague and is to go before a judge on Friday in Rotterdam. His computer equipment has been seized.

Alan Bentley, SVP International at Lumension, said such denial of service attacks will not go away any time soon. "There are armies of botnets ready to be activated at any given moment," he said.
