Vodafone offers businesses smartphone security

Cliff Saran

Vodafone has partnered with mobile security specialist Good Technology to enable businesses to manage corporate data on Android, Windows, iPhone and Nokia mobile devices.

Through an online portal, IT administrators can control applications, restrict a device's functionality and remotely wipe confidential information from a lost or stolen device. The service incorporates Good Technology's Good for Enterprise product, which supports over-the-air and on-device encryption of data such as e-mail, calendar and contacts.

"With smartphones becoming increasingly popular, securing the way data is accessed and stored on these devices is crucial," said Peter Kelly, enterprise director at Vodafone UK.

The service includes helpdesk to helpdesk support as standard, which gives access to Vodafone's support team. Vodafone is also offering a range of remote management options or a fully hosted solution.

Pricing for Vodafone Smartfone Professional starts at £20 per user per month plus a £50 activation fee.
