Cisco debuts Quad collaboration and Prosumer Video

Cisco has launched an enterprise collaboration platform, called Quad, that offers video, real time instant messaging (IM) and social networking capabilities.

Quad will be available from August via native iPad and iPhone applications.

Cisco also unveiled Prosumer Video, which integrates with Cisco FocalPoint and a business-class Flip camcorder with a highly secure upload tool. The company also announced its WebEx online meeting tool would now run instant messaging (IM) on any supported browser.

Cisco said the announcement promotes the new way of working where real time, integrated communications and social software are key to driving increased productivity throughout the enterprise.

Quad integrates voice, video and social networking into one workspace so workers can search across all content within their organisations, as well as locate people and expertise quickly and easily. Mobile Quad applications were optimised for the Apple iPad and iPhone, Cisco said.

Quad could be used with content management systems such as Microsoft SharePoint and Documentum, as well as with voice and video business communications systems, such its Unified Presence and Show and Share products.

Quad will be available in UK, US, Canada, and Australia/New Zealand from August.
